5 Simple Steps to Writing a Mission Statement for your business

Have you ever encountered a business and wonder what they do and why they do it? What is their fundamental purpose?

A well-crafted mission statement focuses the business for both the employees and the target audience. .

It gives everyone involved a launching point to build from when establishing the brand. It sets the company apart from the competition without limiting the business purpose.

I want to share 5 quick tips to help you craft a mission statement for your business:

  1. Clarify what your company does, why it does it, and whom it serves. 
  2. Do keep it short and concise. Sum up the company’s mission in just a few sentences. Don’t write an essay, lol!
  3. Do think long-term, have a long-term view of your business, or do you want it to pack up after 5 years?
  4. Don’t make it too limiting, but also find out what your employees think of the mission statement.
  5. Don’t be afraid to change it. As your business grows and evolves, your mission can change. Feel free to change it to mirror the future that you see for the business.
